Seeing Stripes

Lately I have found myself attracted to stripes. You see it in fashion:

Cakes:

Cars:

Shoes:

I absolutely love the use of horizontal stripes in homes. Here are some pictures to inspire you:

These are the stripes that I painted in our house:
I painted stripes in my loft/craft room. It took about three days but I love the way it turned out. (p.s. room is still a work in progress)

I started to self analyze why I like stripes so much lately... and then I noticed this:

I married "mr. stripes".

The British Are Coming

Lately I've noticed a bit of a british invasion in interior decorating. I am not sure if it is because of the excitement of the upcoming royal wedding or maybe it is a nod to the sixties, but if you look through design publications you will see hints of it everywhere.

Long live the Queen.

love for all things chevron

Lately I have been going crazy for chevron.  It is a bold pattern that can make a traditional room a bit more modern. I have been toying with where I can incorporate it into my home. I am not sure yet but here are some great ideas that I found:

The most common place that you can find the trendy pattern is on rugs:

Here is a link to a website that has a DIY project of making your own chevron rug: http://www.adventuresindressmaking.com/2010/01/i-am-so-proud-of-my-diy-zig-zag-rug.html
I am not sure yet if I am ready to commit to all the labor that a homemade rug might bring, so here are some other places to incorporate the zig zag chevron:

Curtains:

Paint:

Accessories:

I am pretty much in love with this pillow (minus the green fringe). This might be the answer to my design dilemma.

Finally, this very well could be the cutest, most sophisticated nursery that I have seen. This lady, author of laybabylay.com used the graphic chevron rug to bring a sophistication to the nursery. It is unexpected and perfect. I loooove it!!!

Where will you put the "charlie brown" chevron?
